Our reference: Nordex SE

Nordex is a developer and manufacturer of wind turbines. In addition to overall technical design, Nordex has immense know-how in the production of up to 45 metre long rotor blades and in integrated electrical and control technology for wind turbines. A founder of the development of the use of wind energy, Nordex has been setting standards by developing new turbines and their technology to series-production readiness since 1985. Today more than 4,000 Nordex wind turbines are in operation in 34 countries. Their consistent aim is to develop more efficient and thus more economical machines – to the advantage of the environment and their customers.

The project: Nordex-Forum

In the course of its expansion and due to growing space requirements, Nordex decided to construct a new headquarters building in Hamburg-Langenhorn and move from four separate buildings located in the Greater Hamburg region to the “Nordex-Forum”. The Nordex-Forum has a gross floor area of roughly 15,000 m² and is located on a plot of land measuring 10,000 square metres close to Hamburg Airport. The new building was initially configured to provide enough space for 700 employees; however it will be possible to double this capacity to 1,200 employees in a second construction phase. Thomas Richterich, CEO of Nordex SE: “The essential aspect for us is increased efficiency. Streamlined processes, improved employee communication and higher work motivation were already noticeable shortly after our relocation.” Nordex had retained the services of the planning company vonhaveprojekt to analyse the building requirements and organise tendering. This company also advised Nordex competently during the construction phase.

Green Building

Hamburg is the European Green Capital 2011 and will give decisive impetus to the implementation of environmental protection and conservation in urban areas this year.

In line with the Green Capital 2011 award, the “Nordex-Forum” was awarded the “Gold” certificate on the occasion of its inauguration by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB) (German Society for Sustainable Construction). “The Nordex-Forum has received the certificate because the complex falls below the specifications of the Energy Saving Ordinance by more than 20 per cent through the use of energy-efficient building services. Thus Nordex has not only an architecturally attractive and impressive new corporate head office but also very economical one,” said Heiner Helbig, member of the executive board of Hochtief Construction, the company executing the contract.

The new working environment

Especially in the open structures of modern office environments, acoustic measures are essential to enable employees to concentrate on their work and feel comfortable in the office. In addition to our acoustically effective product concepts for cupboards, accessory furniture and space division, we also contributed our expertise in working environment design in compliance with acoustic requirements to the project.

The project also included the premiere of our new U4 Series worktable system, which blends in harmoniously with the building architecture as 4-leg square tube range with a minimalist design and features invisible comfort height adjustment.

We completed the delivery and professional assembly in the new building within the specified time of only 14 work days.

In this commercial project too we have a satisfied customer which is delighted with our individual product concepts and our professional logistics and assembly service.
